What it does
Canadian passport photos are larger than most: 50 mm wide by 70 mm high, with your face 31–36 mm from chin to crown, on a plain white or light-coloured background. Crop your photo to the right shape and download it, along with a 4 × 6 inch sheet you can print.
How to use it
- Canada – Passport is already selected. You can switch to another country or document from the list.
- Choose a front-facing photo taken against a plain, light wall.
- Move and resize the box so your face is centered, with your shoulders at the bottom.
- Click “Create photo”, then download the digital photo, the 4 × 6 inch print sheet, or both.
Common uses
- Canadian passport applications and renewals
- Printing 50 × 70 mm photos at a photo shop from the 4 × 6 sheet
- Online renewals, which use a percentage-based head size instead of millimetres
Tips
- Canadian photos are larger than the US size, so make sure the shop prints them at 50 × 70 mm.
- For an online renewal, frame the photo so your head fills 45–50% of its height.
